Tracking

Use /track <player> to follow another online player. The action bar shows their name, distance, dimension, and (when applicable) a facing arrow. /track stop cancels the current target.

Tracking behaviour changes with the global mode, which the season scheduler adjusts during events. Staff can view or override the mode with /trackmode.

Modes

  • Exact - Live distance, direction arrow, and locator bar. Updates roughly once per second by default.
  • Vicinity - Distance is rounded to buckets (approx 500/1000/1500/...); no arrow, locator bar remains off. Updates roughly every 2 seconds (configurable).
  • Disabled - /track explains that tracking is currently off.

Cross-Dimension Support

  • Overworld - Nether - Coordinates auto-convert with the 8:1 ratio. The action bar appends (auto 8:1) or (auto 1:8) so you know a conversion is in play.
  • End - If both players are in the End, distance displays normally. Cross-dimension End tracking shows the offset relative to your dimension with no ratio applied.

What Stops Tracking

Restrictions are the same in Exact and Vicinity. When any condition fails the run silently ends.

  • Either player sneaks? Tracking stops.
  • Either player gains invisibility (potion or other invis)? Tracking stops.
  • Either player logs out? Tracking stops.
  • If the tracker is wearing an elytra or puts one on mid-track, tracking stops and the cooldown (below) starts.
  • Masks (pumpkins/heads) do not block tracking; the server ignores them.

Elytra Cooldown (All Modes)

  • Equipping an elytra records a timestamp.
  • Cooldown length: 10 minutes from the last time you wore an elytra.
  • Attempting to /track while on cooldown displays the remaining time.
  • Joining the server wearing an elytra counts immediately.

Vicinity Buckets

Distances round up to the nearest configured bucket. Defaults: 500, 1000, 1500, 2000, 2500, 3000. Above the largest configured value the server auto-extends in 500 block steps (for example 3500, 4000, ...).

Quality-of-Life Details

  • Action bar always includes the target's current dimension.
  • Exact mode toggles the player locator bar gamerule on; other modes leave it untouched.
  • Tracking auto-clears if either player drinks invisibility, logs out, or dies.

Command Recap

  • /track <player> - Start tracking the named player.
  • /track stop - Cancel your current target.
  • /trackmode - Staff command to view/set the global mode (use sparingly; the season scheduler manages it automatically).
